Happy New Year everyone! It has been awhile since my last post. If you have been reading my blog you know I had four quilts to make before Christmas (actually before December 12). I am happy to report all four quilts were completed in time and are in the hands of their new owners!
Ron and I were fortunate enough to spend Christmas in Germany with our daughter, Megan, and two perfect little grandsons, Danik and Gavril! We were also blessed to have our oldest daughter, Nycke, go to Germany with us. Our time there was precious as we drank up every possible second we could with them. While we truly loved every minute there, it was a bittersweet time since our son (in-law), Joe, is deployed in Afghanistan. We are all anxious to have him return home safely.
Now, more about those quilts! Each of the quilts made were what I call Deployment Quilts. These are quilts made for either a member of the military who is away from family, or for a family member of a service member away from home. Megan, Danik, Gavril, and Joe each got their own deployment quilt.
Each quilt is personalized with the recipient’s name. Each quilt contains photos that are “framed” in a medium green with an additional two sided dark green frame, giving the illusion of dimension. The outer border and back of each have a U.S. Army fabric. My grandsons love their quilts. Gavril, who is 2, told me his “Soldier Daddy quilt is comfy”! That just melted my heart!
I would love to hear from you.
